Wide Leg vs. Barrel Leg vs. Straight Jeans: Which Streetwear Fit Is Right for You?

Skinny jeans had a long run. Streetwear has moved on to fuller, more relaxed shapes, and choosing between them can be confusing. Here's a quick breakdown of the four cuts you'll find in our denim collection.

Wide leg

Roomy from the hip all the way to the hem, with no taper. Wide-leg jeans are the most dramatic of the relaxed cuts. They pool over sneakers and move when you walk.

Who it suits: anyone who wants a relaxed, skate-inspired silhouette.
Wear it with: a heavyweight boxy tee or hoodie on top for an all-oversized look, or a fitted crop top for contrast.

Barrel leg

The newest silhouette. Barrel-leg jeans curve outward through the thigh and knee, then taper back in at the ankle, like the shape of a barrel. They look relaxed but still show off your sneakers.

Who it suits: anyone who wants volume without the hem swallowing their shoes.
Wear it with: a cropped or regular-length tee so the curve of the leg stays visible.
Shop: Men’s Vintage Wash Barrel Leg Jeans or the softer Unisex Barrel Leg Sweatpants.

Straight leg

The classic. Same width from knee to hem, relaxed but not oversized. It's the most versatile cut and works with almost any top.

Shop: Unisex Vintage Wash Straight Leg Jeans.

Flared

Fitted through the hip and thigh, opening out below the knee. A 70s shape that's come back hard, especially paired with chunky sneakers.

The proportion rule

The easiest way to get a relaxed fit right is to balance volume:

  • Big on bottom + big on top = intentional, all-oversized streetwear. Keep the colors tonal.
  • Big on bottom + fitted or cropped on top = a sharp contrast that defines your waist.
  • Avoid medium-everything: a mid-fit tee over a mid-fit jean usually looks unfinished.

Length matters

Relaxed denim is meant to break over your shoes. A little stacking at the hem is good. If you're between sizes, check the length in the size guide on each product page. All our measurements come straight from the manufacturer's spec sheet.
